Project Grateful Day 87

Today I am grateful for a conversation I had with my BIL

He was explaining to me, happiness in 3 levels (I paraphrased/re-categorized/slightly reinterpreted his words) but the gist of it, is such:

The three levels of happiness

1) ME ME ME

The first Level of happiness comes from instant gratification. For example, I buy an LV bag, makes me feel important/all my friends have it/I like the design therefore I am happy.

2) I

2nd Level of happiness comes from working harder for something. I could study very hard, get a scholarship and feel happy because of my achievements

3) Acts of Service

The 3rd Level of happiness comes from helping others, giving yourself to others/carrying out acts of service for others. I guess its called altruism, where you make others happy and in turn you derive much happiness from your actions.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT on this WONDERFUL FRIDAY MORNING.

ETD in 3 days.

WHEEEEEE

Sad I have to leave, but I know this will always be my home and I will always be back to visit. There’s skype/facetime/gchat/whatsapp so I’ll just suck it up and be POSITIVE!!

WHEEEEEEEE. 5 months of waiting turned into 11 months, therefore the sweetness of getting my VISA is 2.2 times better!

Project 365: Day 86

Thankful for inspirational people around me

Today I had yummy lunch with my namesake. My better twin. She’s gorgeous and grounded. Humble and intelligent. Genuine and kind hearted. Every time I have a conversation/chat with her, I feel inspired to be a better person.

So today I’m grateful for having friends like this. We didn’t take photos (as usual) but I did take photos of the food. (Who’s a greedy gus?) NOT ME!

Project Grateful 365: Day 84

Grateful that we BOTH managed to use our miles to get upgraded for the DBX to JFK flight!

Initially I was a bit bumped because the miles I had been collecting for 2/3 years were expiring and the next stage of my visa process disallows me to leave the US for the most part of 2013. (I know right, first they don’t allow me to enter, then don’t allow me to leave!!!!!!)

There were some delays from the consulate in processing my passport so I had to change my flight back to the US. When I called them (emirates) I casually asked if I could use my miles to do an upgrade (I wasn’t that hopefully because it was less than a week to the day of the flight.)

LO AND BEHOLD! I managed to get us BOTH upgraded tickets with our miles, which was 90,000 miles in total. It wiped out our accounts, but totally worth it IMHO, coz we can’t use it for any flights anyways. The flights from NYC are only to DUBAI and hence require quite a bit more miles a bit to redeem an economy class ticket.

I was beside myself in happiness. What a way to travel to NYC to sign papers at city hall. I’m so excited to formally start my life in NYC, IN STYLE!!!!!!!!

Going to collect my passport with my K1 visa in a few hours. MEGAAAAAAAA YAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Project Grateful 365: Day 82, 83

I’m grateful my Visa is finally here!

Day 82: Got an email saying that my VISA was approved! But its still being processed.

Day 83: Got an email from the courier service to say that my passport (cum VISA) is READY FOR COLLECTION!!!!!!!

OH MY JESUS! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR LIKE 11 MONTHS. I’M SO GLAD THIS FIRST PART OF THE VISA PROCESS IS FINALLY DONE!

Day 81

2 friends came to visit my ball of cuteness and bought him the cutest bedding set for Chinese New Year! (*pics tomorrow!)

That adorable bub is one lucky kid, not for being showered with gifts, but for being showered with love.

Everyone that sees him, seems to love him because he’s so cute.

Twas slightly cranky at the end of the day, but was still cute in YIYI’s eyes!
